“Under the strong leadership of our Prime Minister, our Conservative Government has delivered on its commitments. We have provided strong, stable government in a time of continuing economic uncertainty, kept taxes low, cut government spending, and put our finances on a sustainable path.
“But there is more to do and we will continue on with the work that we’ve been doing on behalf of Canadians.
“Today Prime Minister Harper unveiled a Cabinet that combined new faces and steady hands to bring that agenda forward.
“I am extremely proud of the work that we accomplished at Human Resources and Skills Development over the past seven years. Now, I look forward to continuing to serve Canadians and being entrusted with new challenges as Minister of Public Works and Government Services.
“Part of my new role will be to further improve procurement processes in consultation with industry – and working on such important economic projects such as the national shipbuilding strategy and options for replacing Canada’s CF-18 fleet.
“I’ll always first and foremost be the MP for Haldimand-Norfolk and I want to thank you all for your continued support. I am also pleased to continue serving this area as the Regional Minister for Southwestern Ontario.
The road ahead is an encouraging one for Canada. Our Government will continue to focus on the economy, job creation and long-term prosperity in all regions of the country – both for today and for generations to come.”
