Invitation to stakeholders to consult on Proposed Changes to Fertilizer Program Administration in Canada: Modernization of the Fertilizers Regulations

Ottawa, Ontario, July 17, 2013 – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is inviting comments from all interested stakeholders on the future direction of fertilizer and supplement regulation in Canada.

The CFIA has prepared a regulatory modernization proposal document, Proposed Changes to Fertilizer Program Administration in Canada, which outlines the proposed direction, objectives and principles of modernized Fertilizers Regulations. The CFIA is now seeking input and comments on this document.

Modernization of Canada’s Fertilizers Regulations is part of the CFIA’s regulatory modernization strategy. The proposal takes a risk-based approach, streamlines CFIA regulating activities and allows greater flexibility and less red tape for regulated parties.

For more information on the proposed direction, objectives and principles of the modernized regulations, read Proposed Changes to Fertilizer Program Administration in Canada.
