Simcoe, ON– On September 7, 2018, the Department of Global Affairs Canada announced that it had appointed Ms. Lisa Rice-Madan as Canada’s Ambassador to the Portuguese Republic.
“Congratulations to Ms. Lisa Rice-Madan on her appointment as Canada’s Ambassador to the Portuguese Republic,” said Member of Parliament Diane Finley. “It’s exciting to see people who grew up in our small, tightly knit communities have the opportunity to showcase Canada on the world stage. I’m confident that Ms. Rice-Madan will make all of us in Haldimand-Norfolk proud as she represents our community and our nation’s interests in Portugal.”
Ms. Rice-Madan, originally from the Town of Villa Nova in Haldimand-Norfolk, attended Queen’s University where she obtained her Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Public Administration. Shortly after graduating, Ms. Rice-Madan joined the Foreign Affairs Headquarters where she has served in various roles promoting Canada and everything we have to offer as a nation.
