Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Rona Ambrose, Leader of the Official Opposition, announced today the appointment of the Hon. Diane Finley, MP for Haldimand-Norfolk, to Critic for Innovation, Science and Economic Development. Finley’s appointment comes as the previous Critic, the Hon. Maxime Bernier, recently entered the race to become leader of the Conservative Party.
“I’m honoured to step up as critic for such a challenging and diverse file. Canada’s manufacturers, small businesses and entrepreneurs are cornerstones of Canada’s economy. Many people know Haldimand-Norfolk for its agriculture, but small business and manufacturing are also key drivers in our local economy. This new role gives me the opportunity to fight for these issues on behalf of my constituents and on behalf of all Canadians as well,” said Finley.
In November, Finley was appointed Deputy Critic for this portfolio. She was also named Caucus Liaison with the Conservative Party of Canada and is the Caucus representative on the Leadership Election Organizing Committee (LEOC).
“I look forward to working with my Opposition colleagues, and holding the Liberal Government to account,” said Finley.
